St. John’s guard Dwight Hardy, a Bronx native, has been named to the All-Big East first team, the conference announced Sunday.
According to a report by ESPN, the 6-foot-2 senior finished the regular season averaging 17.9 points per game, fourth in the conference, and led the Red Storm to a tie for third place with Louisville and Syracuse. This is St. John’s best finish in the league since it placed third in 2002.
“Dwight Hardy is as deserving of the All-Big East conference recognition as any player I’ve coached,” St. John’s coach Steve Lavin said in the ESPN report. “The dominant performance and leadership Dwight has provided over the course of his senior year has been a catalyst in St. John’s successful season.”
