Three women and five men were arrested Tuesday on several charges after surveillance video shows them staging a three-car crash last June to collect insurance money, police said.
The suspects are now charged with grand larceny, falsifying business records and insurance fraud.
The group was caught by camera’s from NYPD’s Fraudulent Accident Investigation Squad deliberately crashing their cars into each other. The group then proceeded to West 168th Street and Cromwell Ave in the Bronx for a second crash.
Afterward, they called 911 to file a report and sought medical attention. The insurance companies paid out $39,000 for the accidents. PIX
