Federal prosecutors are asking a judge to revoke the bail of former state Sen. Pedro Espada Jr., the embattled Bronx legislator who was convicted in May of stealing money from his Soundview nonprofit organization.
The prosecutors argue in a document unsealed on Wednesday that Espada has violated the terms of his bail, the New York Times reports. The prosecutors accuse Espada and his family members of draining what’s left of the assets in the Soundview Healthcare Network.
Judge Frederic Block of Federal District Court in Brooklyn is scheduled to rule on the prosecution’s request on Friday.
