Geraldine Ferraro, the first female vice presidential candidate (on a major party ticket) died Saturday at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Born and raised in the South Bronx, Ferraro paved the way for female political leadership. For the last decade Ferraro battled myeloma, a blood cancer. She is survived by her husband and three children.
