Lila Hassan covers Morris Park, Woodlawn Heights, and the rest of District 11. Prior to BronxInk.org, Lila was the senior Middle East/North Africa associate at a prominent human rights watchdog, conducted in-depth research on abuses as MENA intern, as well as provide strategic planning and support as both a communications intern and assistant. Her previous employment includes Thomson Reuters (Cairo), the International Rescue Committee (NYC), The Daily Sabah (Istanbul), Reporters Without Borders, RSF (Paris), among others. Lauren Peace covers Pelham Parkway (Bronx Community District 11). She began her journalism career as a reporter for the Democrat and Chronicle/USA Today Network in Rochester, N.Y., where she helped lead in-depth coverage of a sexual harassment case at the University of Rochester. The case was included in Time’s POY issue. Anastassia Gliadkovskaya covers University Heights for bronxink.org. She is a recent graduate of The King’s College in New York City, where she studied journalism. Ian Karbal covers Highbridge and Concourse for Bronx Ink. A Chicago native, he began his career covering that city’s west side for the nonprofit publication, AustinTalks. Since then, his work has taken him across the state of Illinois. His investigative work in southern Illinois made him a finalist for the 2018 Peter Lisagor Awards by the Chicago Headline Club.
