Media professor Rees Shad of Hostos Community College has been awarded the title of 2012 New York State Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. DNA Info reports that Shad is known for his work on game design that can be applied to teaching math, but is also adored by his students.
