Ex-Bronx politician avoids prison in corruption case

Former NY State assemblyman from the Bronx, Nelson Castro, was sentenced to two years of probation and community service for making false statements to the authorities. The judge showed leniency after Castro cooperated with the government to convict several other politicians. He still faces sentencing on state charges in the Bronx.
