Michael Bautista, 22, escaped from the Bronx Criminal Court last Tuesday. Today, a spokesperson for the New York Police Department confirmed that Bautista “has not yet been re-arrested” after six days on the run.

On Feb. 1, Bautista was charged with assaulting a woman and attacking one of the police officers who tried to arrest him. One week later, he was released after pretending to be another prisoner, Marcial Sosa, at the East 161st Street courthouse. Sosa was being arraigned on two counts of driving without a license. The Legal Aid Society, which represented Sosa, confirmed that his case was later dismissed.

Police reports describe Bautista as “approximately 6 feet tall and 180 pounds” with “black hair, brown eyes, and tattoos of a red scorpion holding a heart with letters on the left side of his neck and a star on the right side.” The police are asking anyone with information about Bautista to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
