Fire Injures Six in Throggs Neck

A fire on Longstreet Avenue in Troggs Neck injured six people, include three children. DNA Info reports that the fire started around 7:35 on Thursday evening in the laundry room of a seven-story residential building. Sixty firefighters responded, ingbring the blaze under control within an hour.

Zaro’s Bakery Fined $118,000 for Unsafe Working Conditions

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration fined Zaro’s bakery on Bruckner Boulevard in the Bronx for a list of violations, including the improper handling of chemicals and blocked exits. The Daily News reports that fines amounted to $118,000. Inspectors visited the facility after a portion of the roof collapsed.

Shot 5-Year-Old Girl in Stable Condition

Police say that a 5-year-old girl was shot early this morning in Tremont, in the courtyard of the Hughes Avenue building. DNA Info reports that an investigation is ongoing and it’s unclear why the girl was fired upon. The girl was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, where she is in stable condition and recovering.
